Why We Should Join In On FebFast

It’s February, so we all know what time it is:

Another year calls for another FebFast!

For those who are unaware as to what it is, FebFast is the great Australian pause from alcohol, sugar or something of your choice for the month of February in support of disadvantaged young people aged 12-25 across the country.

It’s that time of the year where we give up one thing for a good cause – to support our youth.

Often people give up alcohol for the whole month but nothing is excluded. Thinking of giving up sugar? Maybe meat? Whatever it is, it should be within your capabilities and health habits. It’s also a perfectly timed boost to your New Year’s resolutions.

Here are some common vices people choose to pause for the month of February.


There are people who are, surprise surprise, addicted to caffeine. Pausing your caffeine intake for the month of February can be a helpful step towards quitting caffeine altogether.

There are healthy benefits to quitting caffeine, and maybe best of all is the money you’ll save! With no need to spend at expensive coffee shops or by buying overpriced energy drinks that can harm you, you’ll also be able to save for something that matters, get ahead on your bills, or donate the extra money to a great cause, like the FebFast one!


We all know… smoking is a terrible habit. From those large cigars, to the typical cigarette to the more advanced e-cigarette; these all damage your body and brain and cause suffering and pain to yourself and those around you.

So how about helping to lessen not only self-harm and air pollution, but also the waste from cigarette packaging and its environmental impacts?

And by stopping for a month, who knows, you might eventually quit smoking altogether.

How many times a day do you check your phone for any notification from your handful of social media apps? Maybe you’re doing it while on the job? How about when you’re out with friends and family? Do you remember a time when you didn’t check your phone every five minutes and instead basked in the tech-free zone, liberated from compulsive check ins and digital connection?

We don’t realise it but slowly we can lose focus on the important things. Rather than focusing on the better elements in life: one-of-a-kind experiences, special bonding moments with friends and family, even enjoying nature on a daily basis, our lives have become so engrossed with social media that we lose touch with that surrounding us.

Try giving up social media for the month. It could help you bring your life into focus.

Junk Food

Come on, you knew I’d throw this one in here. Why? Because it’s important!
Do you eat junk a little too much, and a little too often?

Weight gain, mood changes, inflammation, food intolerances, and leaky gut…
